Annie Mae Moore, often referred to as Mama Moore or Moe, was one of my maternal great grandmothers. She was the mother of my grandfather, Millard C. Heath. She passed away while I was two years old. Here’s information about her from her two obituaries.

Obituary One: Annie Mae King Moore was born December 1, 1894 in Gibsland, Louisiana, to the union of the late Pink Pleasant King and the late Elizabeth Lewis King.

She received her preparatory education from Coleman College and taught school for many years in Ringo, Louisiana. Growing up, she was a member of Palestine Baptist Church of Gibsland, Louisiana. During adulthood, she became an active member of First Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana until she became ill from having dementia in 1986 at which time she moved ti Houston, Texas.

In 1921, she married Rev. Millard C. Heath. From that union, one son was born, Millard C. Heath. Later, she married Elijah Moore, who preceded her homecoming in 1955. The late Atty. Millard C. Heath, her only child, preceded her in death on September 1, 1988. Gerry G. Heath, her eight grandchild also receded her in death on March 20, 1996.

On Saturday, March 30, 1996, Annie Mae King Moore was called to rest.

Obituary two: Annie Mae King was born December 1, 1894 to Reverend P.P. King and Elizabeth Lewis. To this union twelve children were born; five sisters, and seven brothers. Annie Mae had many responsibilities being the oldest of the twelve.

She was raised in a christian home and accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She married Rev. Heath and to this union one son was born, Millard Heath.

She later married Elijah Moore who was an excellent provider. Elijah Moore and her son Millard Heath preceded her in death. Her love for her husband and son were beyond words. She watched over and took care of Millard as a shepherd would his flock.

Annie Mae King Heath Moore was an exceptional Christian woman and teacher, always giving of herself. She lived in Monroe, LA and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was known as "Mother Moore" and was active in the mission, the Sunday School, Choir, Nursing Guild. She was an Eastern Star and Mother of Her Church and she served faithfully until her health began to fail.

On March 29, 1996, God called Annie Mae home to rest. She leaves behind, one sister, Lennie D. Williams of Phoenix, Arizona, one daughter-in-law, Queen Heath, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand children, great grand children, relatives and friends.

Like a good soldier, Annie Mae fought a good fight. Like an athlete, she finished her course - She kept the faith.
