Marvis Clara Henderson, my second great aunt, was born January 11, 1906 in Gibsland, Louisiana, to the union of the late Reverend Pink Pleasant King and the late Elizabeth Lewis King.

She received her preparatory education from Coleman College and became a member of Palistine Baptist Church of Gibsland. During adulthood she became an active member of First Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana until she became ill.

She was married to Fletcher Henderson, who preceded her homecoming in 1988. Preceding her in death are her brothers, James Earnest King, Willie Glover King, Earl Love King, Ira King, her sisters, Ionia B. Jaggers, Ola E. Stone, Minnie Inez King, and Vera Ethel Lee.

She was called to rest on Tuesday, April 10, 1990. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Annie Mae Moore of Monroe, Louisiana, and Linnie D. Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and loving friends.
